• BAND BIO

What started as a duo grew and grew to a full-on Latin band!:

Café Con Pan is an acoustic trio that will tickle your ears with soulful latin music. They combine traditional Latin rhythms with smooth, soulful crooning, and a hit of summer reggae, that will surely make you smile, dance and sing along.

Lead singer Julia grew up in the weirdest city in America, San Francisco, and listened to Motown and hip hop her whole life. She began singing at just 5 years old in a local talent show, performing "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music. After many years working in the political sphere, Julia discovered her love for Latin music while traveling through Central and South America. She began singing again after a shamanic ceremony in Costa Rica. Her favorite artists include Selena, Alicia Keys, Natalia LaFourcade, and Sublime.

Guitarist José (guitar & vocals) spent his childhood growing up in a farm in a small, country town in Nicaragua, where he learned to speak English and play the guitar! He came to Taiwan on a scholarship to study Agriculture Business at NCHU, and after 2 years, met Julia. Once the two started dating, they played some small shows at weddings and bars. Some of José's most beloved musical influences include Santana, Duo Guardabarranco, and Carlos Mejia.

Percussionist Juan Montero is a self taught percussionist that reconnected with his roots through music and now adds depth and flavor to the group using traditional rhythms. It was through meeting Juan that José and Julia were able to focus on Latin music and elevate their performances.
