Crissy P began his journey like many other Seattle artists before him, surrounded by cold weather and good music.

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Crissy P is a magnetic force in the local music scene, infusing The Evergreen State's hip-hop roots with fresh energy. Inspired by the genres golden era, he's often compared to artists like Joey Bada$$, Earl Sweatshirt, and J Cole. Teaming up with his DJ on an SP-404 sampling machine, they deliver an unforgettable blend of sample-based beats, heartfelt melodies, and impactful lyrics—a captivating experience for audiences.

Stepping into the spotlight at renowned venues such as Barboza, Madame Lou's, and The Vera Project, Crissy P showcased his talents as a finalist in The SoundOff! competition at the Museum of Pop Culture. The year 2023 saw him making waves at celebrated events, taking the stage at the legendary Capitol Hill Block Party and making a memorable appearance during the MLB All Star Week. Ending the summer with an in studio performance at the Emmy award winning concert series, Sessions In Place. The climax of the year came with a standout opening act for Macklemore at The Climate Pledge Arena - a defining moment highlighting his ascending prominence in Seattle's dynamic music scene.

To listen to Crissy P is to ride on a flow of beats while beautiful melodies and insightful lyrics pass by, creating an image of the world as he sees it. It’s a world painted in the universal colors of peace, love, and pain with lyrics that run the gamut from hopeful to biting. For Crissy P, music works as a sort of artistic tether between his soul and the listener’s.

It’s wild to me how different the vibe is between Crissy P‘s live show and his recorded music. When I saw him perform recently at Capitol Hill Block Party, the energy was high, and the stage presence was bold. When you sit down and listen to his recently released album, Silent Stepping Stones, it’s the complete opposite. Although his presence is still bold, his music is calm and tranquil and best served with a joint on the side. Throughout the project, he proves why his name has been buzzing around the city as of late as he takes good raps and makes them great.

As I reached out to Crissy, I knew he was an artist with the depth and the vision worthy of being highlighted. Going back and forth with him confirmed that as much as he’s a talented artist, he has the the courage and commitment to needed to bring bigger change to his city. Writing this piece gives me hope for Hip Hop, but also for the younger generation.
