Born in the south of France, David Villefort started to play percussion at the classic and
universal musical school of his family’s home kitchen by drumming saucepan and pot
among many other things.

By the age of 18, things started to get more serious while embarking on a journey that
would change everything.
During a wild night and in the company of two friends he started to twist a globe and
randomly put his finger on a place called… Madagascar. So the decision was made they
will go there. Based on a true story.
After many adventures including earthquake, train derailment, and Zebu’s cart accident,
he ended up during one year on a remote island called Nosy Nato and became a
fisherman. No water electricity, gas, supermarket, internet (didn’t exist at the time lol).
Absolutely nothing but nature and this amazing people, the Essential… Started to play
percussion for real at the roots of the roots, building instruments from bamboo and having
one of his most intense and deep life experience.
Back to Europe he started to play in Paris with local artists and tour with the popular Ivory
Coast singer Meiway to Canada, Europe and Ivory Coast, embracing with joy this
amazing cultural melting pot.
After a Brazilian gig in Saint-Tropez the globe started to point into another direction and
during a trip in French Guyana he decided to go to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. What was
originally planned to be a one week trip became a 17 years journey…
In Brazil the mix of Afro Native and European culture was impressive and natural at the
same time and just like in Madagascar he dived in deeply.
In the process he started to get involved in musical production and co-signed the first
electronic chill out Sony Music Brazil’s album : Brazilian Lounge/Dj Mam. He also got
involved in commercials and movies co-signing the soundtrack of 2000 Nordestes. He
played with many artists including Marina Elali, Marysa Alfaia, Claudio Nucci , Clara
Moreno opening for the Chemical Brothers in Rio, and jamming during a Clara Moreno’s
tour in Japan with one of the biggest Brazilian artist Gilberto Gil.
The main gig was definitely Afro Rio which was an amazing and powerful popular Dj’s/
Percussion set composing by two deejays and three percussionists with unforgettable
and epic nights, putting fire on the dance floor.
With the natural mix between organic live percussion and electronic music the globe
started to point another direction : Ibiza. He got hired from Brazil to come to work in Ibiza
in a recording studio for musical production. He’s now dedicated to what he loves the
most, live organic percussion with acoustic and electronic music awakening our memory
cells into the digital world.
And so far the globe remains calm…
