Gerrar is a black metal band from Bucharest, Romania, formed in January 2019 by Ger (guitar) and Stege (vocals, Kistvaen, Apa Sâmbetii). Initially conceived as a two-man project, Gerrar quickly evolved into a full-fledged band, channeling themes of suffering, resilience, and the raw struggles of existence.
The debut Gerrar EP was released on January 6, 2021, with vocals recorded at Studio 148 (Marius Costache) and mastering handled by Radu Precup (MetalBiscuit Recordings). What began as a project born in self-isolation soon grew into a full lineup, and in 2023, Gerrar released their first full-length album, Renaștere, available on all major streaming platforms. A Deluxe Edition of Renaștere followed, featuring three exclusive bonus tracks.
Known for an intense live presence, Gerrar has shared the stage with Judas Priest, Imperial Triumphant, Rotting Christ, Yoth Iria, Graveland, Clitgore, Sickret, and An Theos, performing at major festivals such as Metalhead Meeting 2024, Archangels Fest 2021, and Psychosounds Fest 2023, alongside numerous club shows across Romania and Eastern Europe.
Currently, the band is finalizing the recording of their next album.

Trash Metal Lyrics Read.ro :
"The way they fuse the traditional, old-school black metal style with progressive and melodic touches reminiscent of Lifelover and Shining makes them unique and promising. Not to mention their vocalist, who blends agonized screams with deep, ritualistic vocals that bring to mind Attila Csihar (Mayhem) or Niklas Kvarforth (Shining).* A Gerrar concert is a unique experience, one I wholeheartedly recommend—a celebration of the pain of 21st-century society. "Pain doesn’t fade away" is a lyric from Backstab, which I’ll complete with: "But Gerrar makes it sound better than ever!"

"I continue to strive to reveal to those who are not metalheads the hard work and passion that goes into the creation of such albums, and the depth of expression within a musical style that, in our country, often appeals to a niche audience. Gerrar's album should be listened to from start to finish because the songs flow in a specific order, keeping pace with the evolution of their composition. I did just that! Gerrar is on its way to becoming one of the most powerful black metal bands in Romania."
