Hello!
My name is Joshua Mathis I am 33 Years Old and I'm a Tech Death, Death Metal, Rock Drummer from Reno, Nevada!
I've been a Percussionist / Drummer since 2005. I have travelled all over the USA, Canada, and Europe playing drums. I have also done Tech work for various bands over my career. My only band I am in Full Time is called Cyborg Octopus a Progressive Metal Band from The San Francisco Bay Area.
My overall goal is a very simple one. Tour full time and be a professional musician making most of my income through playing music and teaching it! I accept most tours that come my way as long as it's the right fit and right situation. I also do studio work for any Rock/ Metal bands that are in need of live drums! As of now since getting my first tour 16 months ago I have played over 100 shows on tours and locally.
When I'm home I teach theory and extreme drumming techniques at Jam Pro Music Factory. Teaching ages from 7 to adults through my one year that I've been lucky enough to teach.
Bands I've toured with!
Ensiferum (Drum Tech)
Korpiklaani (Drum Tech)
Rivers Of Nihil (Driver)
Cyborg Octopus (Silent Pendulum Records) Progressive Metal
Aenimus (Nuclear Blast Records) Tech Death / Supporting Allegaeon

"Between the Light and Air represents a step forward for Cyborg Octopus. The sound from their debut record that put them on the map is still here and the members have managed to transcend the loss of a founding member and primary songwriter to put out an excellent prog metal record."

"The playful use of horns, woodwinds and a myriad of other novel instruments and synths only adds to the whimsical approach that makes Cyborg Octopus such a fun band with a youthful fire driving all of their output. If you want maximum fun in your metal, look no further than Between the Light and Air."
