Dedicated to his craft, his willingness to push the creative envelope has led to his latest musical offering, Kattitude, scheduled for release, September 27th., 2024. By combining a plethora of musical genres; Funk, Pop, Rock-n-Roll, New Wave, R-n-B, etc. Ronkat created the perfect musical storm with the EP.

Flexing his understanding and appreciation of different decades across each track the listener is transported through a wormhole of eras. The title track "Kattitude" opens things up with an extra thick vibe of funkiness and coolness. Wrapped in layers of heavy guitar, full of clever lyrics weaved into a self-explanatory, bop RonKat explains exactly what it takes to exude that certain Kattitude. Each track touches lightly on a familiar sound from the late 80s and 90s boosting it with the Futuristic feel of the 22nd. Century. "Hold The Good Times" stands out as the perfect get the party started cut while presenting like the lead song from an 80s soundtrack! Crisp and uplifting RonKat steers the ship away from the looseness heard in his earlier releases this year. Smoothly moving into the remaining songs on the EP, RonKat pushes the envelope to deliver heavy doses of the 90s into the present with Afrofuturistic Nu-Wave friendly jams. "Love Safe" another selection broke into Billboard’s Top 20 AC charts along with "Love Me For Today," with Greg Boyer on trombone (who has also played with Prince and P-Funk). "I Don't Care" is another fast tempo tales of love. The extreme opposite of a sappy, unrequited ballad, these tracks are the audio versions of Meet-Cute on caffeine. Rounding things out, "Ride" (with Garrett 'Starchild' Jr. Shider on vocals, he's also singing on "Kattitude" and is the lead singer/guitarist in P Funk ) let's RonKat show off his guitar skills while infusing a different energy into the EP. The only other musician appearing on Kattitude (on the Bonus track, "Transmission") is the iconic Funkmaster himself, George Clinton and a cameo by RonKat's daughter, Nya Spearman! Click this link to stream Kattitude. The EP is available on all platforms September 27th., 2024.

    NO DRIVER REVIEW
Ronkat Spearman strikes once again with his latest single called: “No Driver”. The talented musician recently dropped the psychedelic and entertaining music video on June 7th, 2024. “No Driver” feels and brings the 80’s energy, yet it stays fresh and generates a unique soundscape of independent rock. Somewhere in between New Order, David Bowie, Prince, and Parliament Funkadelic, “No Driver” manages to stay original, wild, captivating, unique, and proves to create a ferocious planet of its own.

It is important to note that “No Driver” is not only a musical attraction but a lyrically interesting statement about the driverless cars in San Francisco. Inspired and influenced by the autonomous, robotic, and self-driving cars, “No Driver” is definitely one of a kind. “Look into your rear view, look what’s up ahead, the car without a driver, drive you through your bed”, is one of Ronkat’s most entrancing lines throughout the energetic musical composition. The track’s gripping and alluring story is brought to life through a mixture of simple but effective narration, scenic imagery, and prominent musical exhibition.

    https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=gVdLETzVgZE

“No Driver” is written, composed, performed, and produced by Spearman himself. The track consists of a diverse range of styles, innovative effects, and distinctive sounds which might just drive the listeners into the unknown streets of Frisco. Spearman successfully and brilliantly fuses rock and 1980’s African American dance music. The drums quickly hit the gas on this track as they are continuous, incessant, and insanely hypnotizing. The guitar is extremely seductive, distorted, groovy, and most importantly: danceable. Similar to Bernard Sumner and Michael Ronson, Ronkat’s guitar playing is not only glamorous but also sophisticated. Towards the end of the track, the funky side of the guitar begins appearing and delivers a funkadelic and boogielicious sensation. The neat and dandy bass rides along nicely with the driverless vehicle. The four stringed gadget fills in the sound, ultimately cements the song, and reinforces muscle throughout the celebrating charged anthem. The vocals ultimately bring a face to the track’s pleasurable and entertaining sound. Ronkat’s unforgettable and distinctive voice delivers a set of significantly low notes. Like Ian Curtis and Sumner, Spearman possesses the technical ability as a vocalist to hit the low-key notes and deliver a high quality tone. Without a doubt, even Sumner could have definitely been featured on this superior track. Ronkat’s “No Driver” simply sounds like a late night poppin’ party at one of the wildest bars in town where everyone dances 80’s music until the sunrise hits.

Ronkat Spearman continues to sculpt out his differentiating and unique space in the independent rock scene. “No Driver” stands as a testament to his ability to intermingle musical success with a refreshing and exuberant touch.

Ronkat has consistently toured and shared the stage with artists like Parliament Funkadelic. Spearman has also written for Lenny Kravitz, JADE, Toni Braxton, El Debarge, George Clinton, Prince, Kanye West, Bootsy Collins, Shock G, Dj Quik, Rick James, Eryka Badu, Martika, Scarface, The Mary Jane Girls, Darius McCrary, Tichina Arnold, Klymax, Angelo Moore and many others. “No Driver” is out now and it guarantees to be an electrifying blend of dance pop, post disco, and independent rock for all music listeners out there.

"Best damn Funkadelic music I’ve heard in ten years. Yes, I’m putting it that straight and clear, kids. As a lifelong funkonaut – my first P-Funk show was Funk On The Green in 1979 in Oakland (age 12) - Katdelic was like making out with an old flame I’d really, really, really missed. Every feature was just right – the clothes and hair, the tough musicianship, the alluring mix of wildness and expert control, the pheromones pouring off the stage and right back from the getting down crowd. It was almost enough to make a man slip on a diaper in tribute to the late Garry Shider and remind everyone around that you got a thing, I got a thing, everybody got a thing. And this ain’t no ghost dance! Sure, they nail the classic P-Funk cuts with aplomb but the original tunes hold their own against one of the great American songbooks. This is precisely where most funk falls apart for me – the tunes – and RonKat has the goods, as well as fine instincts for what old numbers to trot out and where to place them in the mix. A incendiary guest turn from Stanley Jordan, who’s current look was a natural fit for Katdelic, just amped things up to ri-dunk-u-lous. I’m now officially up for the downstroke ANY time RonKat and his crew wanna work the churn! -

“It's a trip to think that I write these songs maybe in bathroom, at the airport, on a plane, in a restaurant , after an argument or on scenic road trip on a highway. It sometimes is exposing the deepest part of my soul.” RonKat Spearman

“Opening the night was Katdelic, the project of Ronkat Spearman (one of the many P-Funk alumni). They laid down thick slices of good dirty funk driven by two bass players that instantly warmed up the crowd. Honestly the bookend bass players threw me at first, but it added so much bottom end to the sound I couldn’t help but be converted. This band was terrific. And Ronkat, who looks like Kool Keith’s version of Black Elvis, was tearing it up on guitar and vocals with true P-Funk grace. If you want to go out to have a good time and shake a tail feather, you can’t lose with this band….they play oceans of deep funk. Check out their next show at the Boom Boom Room on New Years’ Day.”

“RonKat Spearman is “authorized to play the funk.” The Parliament Funkadelic Allstar is bringing his band, Katdelic, one of San Francisco’s hottest groups, to Moe’s Alley for an all-night dance party on Friday, July 24. The leftie who could strum the guitar like a right-handed player, RonKat showed an aptitude for music at an early age and left his hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich., for Los Angeles to realize his dream of making it in the music industry. The ultra talented, composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist got his start writing hits for dozens of artists including, Jade, Toni Braxton and El Debarge, earning him Grammy nominations and a BMI Songwriter of the Year nod for the song, “Don’t Walk Away.” and vocalist.”

“We spoke with musician Ronkat Spearman about his future funk project Katdelic. Ronkat was a member of George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars for 10 years and continues to carry the musical torch which burns bright. He leads a fusion of musicians on a quest to take you higher with their funktastic sounds. Interview Meikee Magnetic Tell us about your Funk beginnings, where did you grow up? My funk beginnings began at birth in Michigan jazz in the room next door to my baby crib rock n roll soul on the radio all day, funk and blues at my aunt Bertha”s house my head was swimming in music. My dad took me out to the clubs to play percussion with Jazz bands when I was six or seven years old, at first they would say take that kid home, he would tell them to just let me play one song. I’d do that and then when I’d get up to leave they would say, no don’t leave, stay where you are.”

As a lifelong funkonaut – my first P-Funk show was Funk On The Green in 1979 in Oakland (age 12) - who lost faith in the George Clinton lead outfit about a decade ago, Katdelic was like making out with an old flame I’d really, really, really missed. “RONKAT SPEARMAN If there was ever a cooler name than RonKat, I've never heard it. The panther head that rises up on Brian Fantana's cologne is probably RonKat. If Mitt Romney had changed his name to Mitt RonKat he would have won the election. But the only confirmed sighting thus far is RonKat Spearman, and since he made his name as a P Funk Allstar (starting in 2001), it all makes sense. RonKat started his own funk ban, Katdelic, to showcase his unique vocal and guitar style. His music is as influenced by Prince as by his mentor George Clinton, with a dub of old school soul and punk chic. - Steve Palopoli - Santa Cruz Weekly ”

“The Funklectic returns to thrust the sensibilities of millennial Neo-Pop into powerful unbounded territory. This saucy disk is a platter of the best blend of funk & rock I‘ve heard thus far. Katdelic brings a Pop sensibility to gut-bucket nasty grooves. It’s underground guerilla funk at it’s finest yet at it’s core could easily go right to the top of the Billboard chart. ”

“Darryl Van Johnson Just got D.O.T.M.S. in the mail. Here are my first impressions: ive been waiting for the title track ever since the Long Beach Funk Fest & its P-Funk at its best. Wailing guitars, poping horns, & funky lyrics have me swinging down. I love the smooth melody of Drive Away & its funk & roll with echos of Prince, Lenny Kravitz & Michael Jackson. Peace to you emotionally touches me c uz this is the first new song ive heard since Belita Woods passed & she sounds so good here. But my jam is We're Here. Love the bassline & the horns. It has that Parliament sound. im gonna enjoy this album for a long time. Oh Hi, Love Thyself & She's Fire has that Funkadelic sound I love so much. This album gets my Maggot Brain Award.”

“at the Boom Boom Room on Fillmore Street, where the first Miss Sugar Booty Pageant was under way. The nightclub's usual blues vibe gave way to funk as contestants "from Pacific Heights to the BBQs of Oakland" shook their moneymakers for a coed crowd of catcallers and a panel of celebrity judges, including the Dead Kennedys' Jello Biafra. Local dance company Cirque Noir performed atop the actual bar, while bartenders served up sugar booty cocktails. The seats were covered with star-shaped glitter so that everyone went home with a sparkling backside.”
