Kuchicola (born Nicola Granger on 19 August 1994 ) is a South African/Zimbabwean Neo-soul, RnB, and Jazz fusion singer, producer, and songwriter based in Johannesburg. The name Kuchicola was given to her by her father it comes from merging Nicola and the phrase of endearment 'kuchi kuchi koo, I love you'. She has spent her life around music from singing 6-part harmony in music groups at church with her father, Dr. Alex Granger, and has studied music throughout high school and tertiary. Sonically her sound is inspired by the past and the present, her influences include Erykah Badu, Take 6, Sza, Brenda Fassie, Lebo Mathosa, Beyoncè, Micheal Jackson, and Kaytranada. She was inspired to pursue music by her father.
Her Debut project is titled Kuchicola and it started her journey to exploring her sound. She has released three projects since her debut, namely; Prod.Kuchicola, Almost and her most recent release Clown’s Tears. She has also produced for artists such as Joda Kgosi and M’ax.
The lead single that she wrote and produced, Cry Baby Cry expresses that you can never be good enough for the wrong person and the loss will be theirs in the end while being accompanied by a stripped-down sound complimented by beautiful harmonies. Twilight Zone is a song that has a unique Kuchicola sound where she uses the production of her younger brother, CCG, and 6-part harmony singing all the parts using voice manipulation for the lowest part, she takes you on a ride through realising that indecision is not the route she’d like to take on her quest to find love. She goes into songs that she has produced like You, Follow and Wanna Be, these songs represent her loving side where she expresses how she would like to give her love and devotion to someone deserving and appreciative, these songs are upbeat and use dance and soul elements to emote the joy that love can bring. With a song like Dear God produced by Jazzgroupiez, Kuchicola goes into a prayer where she asks for the love of her life to be revealed and for that love to be protected so that her heart won’t be affected. The project is about love and its complexities and is sure to get you loving, hating, questioning, and debating your own journey.
In all seriousness, her lyrics sound like you're reading her personal diary with some background music. Her lyrics are so piercing that by the end of 'Clown's Tears' you feel like Kuchicola is more like a sister who is venting to you, than an artist whose album you're just listening to.

Although Kuchicola has only been producing since 2019, she has already collaborated with the likes of Zambian artist, M’ax, Joburg-based Joda Kgosi, and even Afropunk Finalist, Raspy. The rising artist describes that “musicality might be difficult but production isn’t, once you know how to start – putting in work is what makes you better”.
