• Pyrophyte – Melodic Death Metal from Berlin

Forged in the fires of Berlin’s underground, Pyrophyte erupted onto the scene in 2022, delivering a relentless fusion of intricate, razor-sharp riffs, ominous melodies, soaring solos, and crushing vocals—all driven by a pulsating low end and frenzied rhythms.

The current lineup features Ezequiel "Ezzy" Mendoza (ex-Buried Dreams, Mexico) on vocals and bass, Ruben and Emre on guitars, and Nien on drums, who completed the lineup in early 2024. Pyrophyte is on a mission to carve its name into the metal world and leave an indelible mark on all who hear them.

Their debut single, “Fractals of Tragedy” (March 2023), introduced the band’s signature sound—a ferocious blend of Melodic Death Metal with Progressive Metal influences. Off-kilter time signatures inject a dynamic, unpredictable energy, while guttural roars intertwine with haunting clean vocals, pushing the genre’s boundaries. The lyrics, penned by former guitarist Itai Cohen, amplify the song’s raw, unrelenting energy.

With their second release, “Erel” (January 20, 2024), Pyrophyte took a bold step forward. The track, surpassing 1,000 Spotify streams in record time, stands as their longest and most intricately composed piece. It also marked several firsts: the inclusion of orchestral elements and an acoustic section with clean singing—a testament to the band’s evolving sound and ambitious vision.

Their third release, “Amokualli”, channels the Mexican roots of frontman and bassist Ezequiel Mendoza. The song’s title, meaning “devil” in Nahuatl, melds melodic structures with dark, Black Metal-inspired atmospheres, while its lyrics take a critical stance on religion, deities, and their impact on evolution and free thought. The cover art, crafted by Mexican artist Federico Ruiz, a longtime collaborator of Ezequiel, captures the song’s essence with visceral intensity.
