Big Jim Kohler is that guy! The guy all the musicians come to see after their top 40 and classic rock gigs are over. No frills Chicago Blues played with the honesty and intensity of a country preacher. Monday night in New Bern, NC means a trip down Front St. to Blackbeards where a mix of locals, tourists and musicians groove to the Big Jim Kohler Band. “This is Better than most peoples Saturdays” says one regular. That enthusiasm follows the band nightly.
Festival stages or barroom bandstands it’s all the same with the Big Jim Kohler Band. 100% Chicago Blues.
2020 Piedmont Blues Preservation Society International Blues Challenge winners.Former band leader for blues Hall of Famer Son Seals. Toured with Mississippi legend Byther Smith, gigged with Bernard Purdy and shared the stage with a who’s who of the blues.
