About Canyon Avenue

Emerging in 2024 from Phoenix, AZ, United States, Canyon Avenue blends indie rock, alternative rock, indie pop, folk and singer songwriter into a genre-defying sound.

Canyon Avenue was born in 2024 inside Canyon Hall at Grand Canyon University, founded by Jackson Cox (guitar/vocals) and Jordan Woods (bass), soon joined by Sawyer Balcombe (drums). Their freshman year saw breakout performances at the debut of GCU’s Thursday Night Live (now Friday Night Live) and a headline show to launch a new campus venue. During this time, they released their debut acoustic album Memos from 125, a collection of raw dorm‑room recordings designed to feel like you were sitting in the room with them. The project has since surpassed 3,000 streams, resonating with listeners for its intimacy and authenticity.

After a season of change in 2025, Canyon Avenue returned stronger than ever, kicking off the fall semester with multiple campus shows and a featured slot at Friday Night Live. The current lineup—Jackson Cox (guitar/vocals), Thomas McQueen (lead guitar), Mason Lindsay (drums), and Ben Holcombe (bass)—is now recording their first studio EP while continuing to perform across GCU and expanding into Phoenix. With multiple news articles highlighting their rise on campus, Canyon Avenue is carving out a reputation for emotionally clear songwriting, honest performance, and community‑driven connection.
