Sweet Ignition

Sweet Ignition began as the solo recording project of vocalist and guitarist Michael Gallup. In late 2024, French musician Louis-David reached out after hearing an early acoustic demo of “Lovesick,” leading to the project’s first creative collaboration. Throughout the first half of 2025, Michael independently released a string of singles before compiling them into the Sweet Ignition EP.

Just weeks later, everything stopped. Following a car crash that left Michael with multiple broken bones and severe knee injuries, months of recovery followed. During rehabilitation, music became more than a creative outlet, it became a reason to keep moving forward. While recovering at home, he wrote, recorded, and produced Between Dark & Daylight, a deeply personal EP that chronicled the darkest period of his life while searching for hope beyond it.

Looking for a band to perform the songs live, Michael recruited guitarist Sam Hogan, bassist Luke Flaker, and drummer Daniel Syrowski to compete in the 2026 Ohio Rock-Off. What began as a one-off lineup exceeded everyone’s expectations, advancing to the finals and finishing in second place. Rather than going their separate ways, the four committed to making Sweet Ignition a permanent band.

Reclaiming the Sweet Ignition name in the summer of 2026, the band quickly established itself in Northeast Ohio with performances at Mercury Music Lounge, Front Street Social, Musica, and an appearance on Dave “Ziggy” Deitke’s Zig at the Gig podcast. Drawing from alternative rock, pop-punk, and post-grunge, Sweet Ignition combines soaring melodies, driving guitars, and deeply personal songwriting into music that balances vulnerability with hope.

The band is currently hard at work writing and recording future releases while continuing to make a name for themselves across Northeast Ohio, with no signs of slowing down.
