David O'Hara

My name's David O'Hara, and at 41 years old I finally decided to take the jump into writing and recording music from a standing start. Everything I've released so far has been written, recorded, performed and produced by me in my wee spare room on a very modest home setup.
For 21 years I worked in print, then moved into social care, and for a long time music was something I never thought I'd have the guts to try properly. But when my daughter Olivia came along, I wanted to show her that when her time comes, she shouldn't ever be scared to put herself out there. Basically, if her auld da can do it at 41, so can she.
I released my first two singles, 'The Things We Can Do' and 'Hey, How Are You?', in October 2025, with my third single, 'The Start of It', released on 7 November 2025. I also released a cover of 'Only You' in the run up to Christmas. Since then the songs have picked up radio support from:
•Sunny Govan
•CamGlen Radio
•Indy Live Radio
•Stirling Community Radio
•Amazing Radio UK & USA (including a play from Jim Gellatly)
I'm now taking the next step and getting out playing live (terrifying but exciting), building confidence through open mics and slots around Glasgow.
On 18 November 2025 I performed 'Hey, How Are You?' and 'The Start of It' live and was interviewed by Derek McCutcheon on CamGlen Radio: (https://tinyurl.com/CamGlenSession)
That live session and interview charted globally on Mixcloud, reaching #18 in the Singer-Songwriter chart and #25 in the Interview chart.
Live-wise, I've been building experience at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, regularly attending open mics and was invited to be featured act on two occasions.
6 December 2025 - Featured Act at the King Tut's open mic
14 February 2026 - Featured Act at King Tut's (Valentine's Day)
1st March 2026 - Featured Act at New Born Sessions Sunday Song Club
2nd April 2026 - The Classic Grand
22nd May 2026 - Audio Glasgow
I also played The Barras Market on Christmas Eve (a Glasgow institution, so that was an honour).
My single, 'Tell Her That I Loved Her', was released on 30 January 2026 and again received radio support from Jim Gellatly. I'm continuing to build momentum with more live slots and new releases planned through the year.
Musically, I'm influenced by everything from Oasis, Dylan and The Beatles to The La's and pure pop melody. Most of my writing comes from everyday life and the people around me.l with a bit of storytelling thrown in.
