John — better known as JAYA — a drum & bass and bass-driven producer and DJ based out of Long Island, New York. His connection to electronic music traces back to childhood, hearing early-90s house legends echo through his home while his mother did housework. Through his early years, he gravitated toward hardcore, death metal, and punk, but it all shifted in high school when a friend played him Rusko’s “Hold On” (Sub Focus Remix). That one moment changed everything. The track hit him so intensely that he played it on repeat for months, diving head-first into the emerging world of bass music and discovering artists such as Cookie Monsta, Flux Pavilion, Reid Speed, Figure, and Excision along the way.

He has now been DJing since 2010 and producing original music for the last several years, following a simple rule — create what feels real. He doesn't chase trends; he builds sound from inspiration and instinct. Whether digging for new bass gems or revisiting old classics that spark ideas, his process is driven by passion, curiosity, and a genuine love for rave culture.

Deeply influenced by pioneers such as Rusko, Jantsen, Reid Speed, Casey Club, Original Sin, and Liquid Stranger, he gravitates towards artists who bend sound and energy in their own direction. Rusko, in particular, stands as a core inspiration — a reminder that individuality, personality, and fearless creativity shape scenes, not formulas.
