Kapayja are an independent alternative-rock band from Dublin, Ireland. Defined by blistering riffs, thumping rhythms, heart-on-sleeve vocals shaped through constant experimentation. Their anticipated new single Slowly Out Now! Debut EP, Age of the Open Book, drew attention from Hot Press, Radio X, BBC, GOO, Golden Plec, and RTÉ 2fm, who praised its atmosphere, intensity, and dynamic guitar work. As the band’s first studio project, each track captures a chapter of their journey since forming in 2023. A sold-out headline show in Whelan’s Upstairs marked a milestone moment, and Kapayja continue to carve out their place in Ireland’s alternative scene.

Age of the Open Book

The rollout of their debut EP has been a resounding success gaining attention from Hot Press, BBC Introducing and UK’s Radio X. On January 7th 2025, the band released their first single, Livin’, which quickly gained traction, drawing listeners to their fresh sound and energy. The track was selected as RTE 2FM’s Grassroots Pick, receiving generous plays on the station. It also secured airtime on Dublin City FM’s 103.2 show Tilt with John Barker, while also attracting attention from Genuine Irish with this first single. Two for Joy, marks their second single of 2025 and has been featured on playlists by GoldenPlec, IMRO, and First Music Contact, while also receiving airtime on regional radio. Final single Crack a Smile, released on April 3rd has really set the tone for the EP’s imminent success. It caught the attention of UK’s Radio X, featuring on X-Posure presented by John Kennedy. Hot Press were also quick to spotlight the track as well as making an appearance on BBC Introducing in Northern Ireland with Taylor Johnson. Kapayja celebrated the release of this defining collection with a sold out headline gig at Whelan’s in April, 2025—a milestone moment. The band as they continue to carve out their place in the alternative rock scene. Frontman and Songwriter of the group Joshua Neary comments on the creation of the EP “it is a product of lived experiences, observations and anything that’s made me who I am over the integral years growing up. The realisation we live amongst very talented and interesting people that may go through life unnoticed.”
