KNIFE

BIO:
KNIFE, based in Melbourne, formed in 2020 from the ashes of various hardcore and metal bands through an equal love of extreme metal, industrial and crustpunk/hardcore.
-INDUSTRIAL DEATH-
PROUDLY ON PRIMITIVE MOTH RECORDS
FFO: Meathook Seed, Nailbomb, Godflesh, early FearFactory/Pitchshifter, Napalm Death, Doom, ENT, and Amebix etc
Wound was the debut EP, and now we have the second EP, Non Compos Mentis.
Knife’s Non Compos Mentis is:
“A love letter to the designer unpleasantness
of 90s industrial metal, fans of Nailbomb won’t want to miss this. Non Compos Mentis is as brutal and analogue as a chewed-up cassette tape.”
GET IT IN YOU NOW"
Tom Wilson-Sense Music Media 2026
"Knife state influences from Nailbomb and Godflesh, there’s that vibe, but I also had thoughts of Soul of a New Machine era Fear Factory. In fact, I’d say Mark’s vocals are a dead ringer for Burton C Bell, at least in the early days. This is a massive compliment because I love FF and Bell.
Metal Roos 2022
"Melbourne's own Knife, however, proudly exudes the grinding, percussive, mechanical, and pulsating 90's-era aggression of acts such as Nailbomb and the seemingly immortal GodFlesh. Notably, they infuse the five tracks contained within Wound's confines with a distinctly crusty vibe and highly emotive, discernible-but-visceral harsh vocals. Knife successfully avoid feeling dated...while simultaneously recalling a distinct aesthetic era of industrial music"
Sleeping Village Reviews 2022
KNIFE’s Non Compos Mentis operates as a decisive escalation rather than a routine follow-up. The Melbourne group pushes its industrial death template into harder, more disciplined form.KNIFE have moved steadily toward a sound that merges industrial metal, crust, and death without being too damn nostalgic about it. Earlier releases hinted at it. Non Compos Mentis finalises it. The EP is direct, functional, and built for pressure, arguing its case through complete structure.
