Nathan Frankland is an independent songwriter and producer whose work currently uses a minimal and DIY approach to music while creating a raw and authentic emotional experience.

Nathan explores themes of isolation, vulnerability and depression from a self-contained bedroom studio.

His debut EP, "Alone, Together", comes from his own personal experiences while blending elements of alternative, ambient and experimental production, as well as using constraint-based composition writing and unconventional techniques to allow for a unique listening experience. Rather than relying on traditional songwriting techniques, Nathan focuses on the textural and dynamic contrast within a song and subtle shifts to immerse the listener.

Nathan is inspired by artists such as Bon Iver, Have A Nice Life, Phoebe Bridges, Better Oblivion Community Center and Nine Inch Nails. His work integrates intimate songwriting and experimental sound design to translate personal experience into sound.

Alone, Together is a deeply personal project created to explore themes of isolation, emotional vulnerability, and internal conflict. Created in a bedroom studio, this project prioritises atmosphere, texture and emotional authenticity while using DIY techniques and approaches.

Using the influences of ambient sound design, alternative songwriting and subtle electronic elements, this project progresses through different emotional states: from tension and discomfort to finding yourself in quiet reflection. The lack of harmonic movement and evolving textures allows for an intimate listening experience, allowing the listener to focus on the emotions of each section.

This EP was created as both a reflective and creative process. By allowing restraint of instrumentation, the music focuses on texture, dynamics and progression, further reinforcing the project's themes of isolation and regrowth.
