Neto Yuth
Bio
Neto Yuth is not just a reggae artist—he’s a cultural force. Since 2010, this Montreal-born, Toronto-based musician has been crafting a legacy of high-quality albums, singles, and music videos with an unwavering commitment to authenticity and innovation.
Often compared to reggae greats like Gentleman and Alborosie, Neto’s mastery of Jamaicain-Patois is so profound that listeners often mistake him for a native Jamaican. But his artistry goes far beyond language; it’s rooted in a deep connection to Rastafarian spirituality, social consciousness, and a musical versatility that effortlessly blends New Roots Reggae, Dancehall, Soul, and more.
Born in the late ’80s to a francophone family, he was introduced to reggae by his older brother, who brought home vinyl and cassettes of legends like Dennis Brown and King Tubby. By 13, Neto was already writing lyrics and performing with local sound systems. His passion for reggae led him to go reside in Waterhouse, Kingston Jamaica—a community known as the “Mecca of Sound Systems”—where he immersed himself in the culture and honed his craft.
Returning to Canada, Neto burst onto the scene with his 2008 debut French-language album, La Nouvelle Jérusalem. By 2014, he had caught the attention of reggae superstar Sizzla Kalonji, who took Neto under his wing after their collaboration on No One but Jah. This mentorship not only shaped Neto’s sound but also solidified his place in the reggae world.
His 2014 album It’s Getting Harder (Coyote Records/Universal Music Canada) marked his arrival as a serious artist, produced by Quebec pop maestro Claude Bégin and featuring collaborations with Karim Ouellet and Sizzla. In 2017, he unleashed Time & Space Puretape, a 27-track mixtape of unreleased gems that sold over 6,000 copies on the streets of Montreal and Toronto. His 2019 release Exodus Not an Exile propelled him onto the international stage earning nominations at multiple European Reggae awards platforms (Reggaeville, Reggae.fr)
In June 2025, Neto Yuth dropped his most refined and ambitious work yet: Angles of Light—a bold celebration of Canadian reggae excellence and global collaboration. Showcasing homegrown talent, it features production from Juno winner Claude Bégin, Juno/Grammy-nominated Bob Riddim, and Grammy-nominated/Juno winner Soke from Banx & Ranx, alongside reggae legends Anthony B, Daddy Mory (Raggasonic), Turbulence, and Exco Levi. Angles of Light stands poised to become one of the decade’s most influential Canadian reggae albums. Earning 8 nominations at the Canadian Reggae North Music Awards across 2024 and 2025, Neto claimed Video of the Year in 2024 and Songwriter of the Year in 2025.
