Raa is a Texas-based country singer-songwriter with deep Louisiana and Creole roots, shaping a sound that blends soul, storytelling, and the unmistakable warmth of home. Born in Louisiana and steeped in the rhythms of gospel, blues, and bayou life, Raa carries a voice that is both lived-in and resonant — a bridge between tradition and modernity, between the South he was born into and the country stage he now commands.
Music has always been in Raa’s blood. As a child, he earned multiple national and state-level awards, including accolades in the DeBose National Piano Competition, top honors in jazz piano, and the distinction of number one tuba player in Texas for All-State Band. These early achievements revealed a disciplined musicality, a deep understanding of harmony, and a natural command of melody that continues to shape his performances today.
After moving to Texas, Raa blossomed into a commanding presence in Houston’s live scene. His performances carry both intimacy and power — whether he’s returning every other month to Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar for his residency, lighting up Whiskey Wednesdays, or sharing the stage at beloved local venue Shoeshine Charley’s. His shows are rooted in the Southern Black musical tradition: textured, soulful, and storytelling-driven, with every note carrying the weight of experience and heritage.
Raa has also become a standout at Gulf Coast festivals. In 2024, he performed at both the Save The Locals Music Festival and the Texas SandCastle Festival, returning in 2025 for another SandCastle Fest set. These stages give him the space to bring his Creole-country sound to wider audiences, blending roots, rhythm, and a touch of the Mississippi Delta in every song.
His 2024 EP, Country In My Bones, showcased his mastery of heartfelt acoustic arrangements, honest lyricism, and a voice that evokes both longing and homecoming. He continues expanding his catalog, performing regularly, and curating Southern Nights — a monthly showcase of originals and covers, steeped in Southern storytelling and the musical traditions he honors.
Soulful, rooted, and unapologetically Southern, Raa is a modern troubadour with Creole heritage, carrying the sound of home and history wherever he plays.
