Press Release
Rougaroux is a scream into the void, a rallying call for chosen family, and a demand for a brighter future. This eclectic post-punk five piece project hailing from Burnaby, BC works themes of queer identity into high-energy, gut-wrenching mosh pit fuel.
Rougaroux is made for screaming along to in your car, and pre-gaming queer prom. The five-piece queercore project started in 2021, after the isolation of the pandemic bred a desperate need inside this chosen family to make their art. After an EP, several singles, and a debut LP in 2025, they can be heard in small-town basements, Pride festivals, UK radio shows, Yukon festivals, and one bold karaoke bar in Armenia.

Rougaroux is a trans and Indigenous fronted experimental post-punk band from the unceded territory of the Squamish, Tsliel-Waututh, and Musqueam nations, otherwise known as Vancouver, BC. Their music has a wide range of influences, from goth to prog rock, and pop punk to doom metal. Rougaroux is heavy and existential in all the right ways, and the sheer kinetic energy of their live show will leave you thrashing in the mosh pit and screaming along to the lyrics on the ride home.
The band was formed in 2020 by dual-vocalists George Finley and Marina Hanly, with Marina and Adam Melody on guitars, Connor Thiessen on drums, and Clayton Finley on Bass. What started as a response to punk music in Vancouver quickly grew into an art piece that questions what it means to be alive and queer. At a Rougaroux show, the audience peers in on a seemingly private moment of five best friends having fun, and asking, with just anger, what we can do about the state of the world.
Rougaroux completed their first cross-country tour in Fall 2026: the Friends In Financial Agony Tour (otherwise known as FIFA26). Alongside fellow Vancouver punks ?numb?dame?, they traveled to 16 cities across Canada including, including Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and more. Rougaroux has also toured Western Canada in 2023 and 2025, seeing cities across Alberta and British Columbia. They have played countless shows at iconic Vancouver venues such as The Rickshaw Theatre, Green Auto, and The Fox Cabaret, as well as several festivals, including the Vancouver Dyke March 2025 and (S)hiver Arts Fest 2026 in Dawson City, YT. Rougaroux released their first EP, Go For the Face! in 2023, and their full length LP, Graveyard Smash, in April 2025.
With over 11K followers on TikTok and over 4200 on Instagram, Rougaroux continues to gain momentum.
