Today we’d like to introduce you to Sateeva.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Sateeva. I’ve been making music for over 10 years, both performing live and recording in the studio.

My love for music started when I was a kid. There was always music playing in my house and in the car. My mom introduced me to artists like Anita Baker and Aretha Franklin, while my dad always had Luther Vandross playing. Growing up around those soulful voices taught me the importance of emotion and authenticity in music, and that influence still shows up in everything I create today.

As I got older, around seven or eight years old, my older brother introduced me to hip-hop. That’s when everything came together for me. I started blending the soul and melody I grew up with and mixing it with hip-hop to create my own sound. Over the years, I’ve continued to develop that style while discovering who I am as an artist.

Outside of music, I’m also the creator and host of the Sateeva Talk Podcast, alongside my co-host, Royal Savage. Since launching in 2024, we’ve built more than just a podcast—we’ve created a platform for entertainment and community. We produce live podcast events, comedy shows, open mics, and other creative experiences that bring artists, comedians, entrepreneurs, and supporters together.

Whether I’m on stage performing or behind the microphone hosting conversations, my goal is the same: to create genuine experiences that connect with people and leave a lasting impact.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced is coming from a state where there are fewer resources and fewer opportunities to break into the music industry. It can be difficult to get in front of the right people when many of the major labels, executives, and industry events are located in larger markets. Because of that, I’ve had to work even harder to create opportunities instead of waiting for them to come to me.

Another challenge has been gaining exposure and growing my audience. I know I have the talent and the work ethic, but getting your music in front of new listeners is one of the hardest parts of being an independent artist. Building a loyal fan base takes consistency, patience, and a lot of self-promotion.

Those obstacles are actually what inspired me to expand beyond music. That’s one of the reasons I created the Sateeva Talk Podcast. It gave me another platform to build relationships, support other creatives, host live events, and continue growing my brand while introducing new people to my music.

I’ve learned that where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish. Every challenge has pushed me to become more creative, more resourceful, and more determined to build my career on my own terms.
