Superstatic is a horror-themed Death/Doom Metal band based in Dublin, Ireland. Formed in 2017 as the solo project of Rustam — working under the pseudonym Alex, founder of Rakoth and Umbral Presence, and current studio singer of Yoth Iria — the band takes its name from Rakoth’s debut Superstatic Equilibrium. From its inception, Superstatic set out to merge oppressive doom atmospheres with deep literary horror influences.

The debut album Key to the Abyss (2018) drew heavily from the works of Russian horror writer Ilya Mazodov. Musically, it combined Death/Doom with elements of Black Metal, Slow Death Metal, classic Doom, and Sludge, creating a grim, narrative-driven sound. Superstatic’s second album, Glimmering Veil (2021), shifted toward funeral doom. Inspired by authors such as Harlan Ellison, Wilhelm Hauff, and Arthur Machen, as well as the games Morrowind and System Shock 2, the album embraced darker, more complex arrangements while moving away from the black-metal influences of the debut.

In 2022, Superstatic expanded into a full live band. Their sound — rumbling, atmospheric, and slow-burning — appeals to fans of Morbid Angel, Evoken, and Konvent.
