Under the Ashes

UNDER THE ASHES
"If you like your death metal old school and sounding nasty as fuck, you need to wrap your ears around this..."
London’s UNDER THE ASHES emerged in 2022, forged in the uncompromising legacies of Bolt Thrower, Slayer, Sacrilege, Trouble, and Wolfbrigade. Blending old-school death, classic thrash, traditional doom, and heavy metal with a touch of crust punk, their music is a throwback to an era before genre lines were drawn in the sand.
Following their 2024 demo DEUS VULT, UNDER THE ASHES present their debut full-length, SACRIFICES HEAPED — seven tracks carved from the marrow of war and the brutal depths of human cruelty. Seven explosive laments to man’s ultimate inhumanity to his fellow man, hewn from vertebrae-shearing riffs, searing solos, and unyielding rhythmic fury.
Featuring scene veterans Alastair Riddell (Decomposed, Blood Island Raiders, Age of Taurus), Luke Drew (Dungeon), Simon Ferrie (Crom Dubh, Nganga), and French drummer Thibault Schwartz (Abstrusa Unde), UNDER THE ASHES quickly carved their place in the UK underground.
Since their live debut in 2023, they’ve stormed London stages at Desertfest and Metalbrew, and supported heavyweights including Grave Miasma, Inhuman Nature, and Mutagenic Host.

Kerrang
A genuinely invigorating energy… With the current uptick of interest in new bands dealing in older death metal sounds, don’t let this lot pass you by.
Metal Hammer ★★★★☆
Tracks like Deus Vult sit perfectly at the interaction between Bolt Thrower and Sacrilege, but this debut isn’t just an exercise in ‘80s nostalgia.
Loud and Proud ★★★★☆
“A short but devastating explosion that, in just twenty-seven minutes, unloads all the horror, paranoia and brutality of war through seven sharp, rough and, at the same time, catchy tracks.
The Razor's Edge
The sound is as fresh today as it would have been in 1986… If you like your death metal old school and sounding nasty as fuck, you need to wrap your ears around this.
